TrueMantis Terms of Service
Platform-neutral discussion analysis with user responsibility for content selection.
Last Updated: October 20, 2026
Effective Date: October 20, 2026
These Terms of Service (collectively, the “Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you and TrueMantis LLC governing your access to and use of the TrueMantis website (www.truemantis.com), browser extensions, automated bots, and all related services, features, and content (collectively, the “Service”). These Terms incorporate by reference our Privacy Policy, DMCA Policy, and any other policies or guidelines we make available. By accessing or using any part of the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you must not access or use the Service.
TrueMantis is operated by TrueMantis LLC, a Wisconsin limited liability company (referenced here as “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
Summary of Our Terms
This plain-language summary highlights a few key points, listed below in bullet point form. The eight (8) bullet points below are provided for convenience only and have no legal effect. The full Terms below govern your use of the Service, beginning in Section 1 below, and in the event of any conflict the full text of the Terms shall control.
- What we do: We analyze the quality of publicly available discussions on X and Bluesky. We are independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any platform.
- You choose what to analyze: You decide what content to submit, and you are responsible for that choice and for complying with the source platforms’ terms.
- The extension only acts when you do: Our browser extensions capture a conversation only when you, a real person, explicitly activate them, with no automated, background, or bulk collection.
- Who can use it: You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
- Paid plans: Subscriptions are billed annually and auto-renew until you cancel. You can cancel anytime, effective at the end of the current billing period. Fees are non-refundable except where the law requires.
- No guarantees: Analysis is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee its accuracy, and our liability is limited as described below.
- Removal: Participants in an analyzed discussion can request removal of captured content (see our Privacy Policy and DMCA Policy).
- Disputes: Most disputes go through a 30-day good-faith negotiation and then binding individual arbitration (no class actions). Wisconsin law governs.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using the Service (via creating an account, completing a purchase, clicking “I Agree”, or through a similar action), you represent that you are at least eighteen (18) years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you are accessing or using the Service on behalf of a company, organization, or other entity, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms, and “you” refers to both you individually and the entity. Continued use of the Service after being presented with these Terms also constitutes acceptance.
2. Service Description
2.1 What TrueMantis Does
TrueMantis is an analytical platform that provides discourse-quality analysis and rhetorical assessment of publicly available online discussions. The Service:
- Classifies discussion content using a unified discourse taxonomy
- Provides rhetorical analysis and discourse-quality measurements
- Delivers AI-generated fact-check assessments of claims (these are automated analytical outputs, not definitive determinations of truth or falsity)
- Fact-check context may include short excerpts from third-party sources, with a link to the original.
- Makes analyses available through our web interface, browser extensions, and, where supported, an automated mention bot
2.2 What TrueMantis Does NOT Do
TrueMantis is a content-neutral analysis platform. We explicitly do not:
- Monitor, filter, or pre-screen the content of threads submitted for analysis
- Make editorial decisions about what content should or should not be analyzed
- Determine who may or may not analyze particular threads
- Remove, censor, or modify the underlying content being analyzed
- Take responsibility for the appropriateness, legality, or quality of user-submitted content
- Act as a content moderator or editorial service (our AI assessments are automated analysis, not editorial judgment)
2.3 Public Platform Content, Attribution & Automated Bots
TrueMantis analyzes publicly available discussion content on supported platforms (currently X and Bluesky).
- We are an independent service and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by X Corp., Bluesky, or any other platform.
- Analyses link back to the original discussion with attribution.
- The discussion is our unit of analysis. On X, we do not build cross-thread profiles of platform users, rank users across discussions, maintain per-user reputation scores, or generate any author-level profile or discourse summary of a user, except where that user has given separate, express, and informed consent to such profiling; connecting or authenticating an X account does not, by itself, constitute that consent. On Bluesky, we may generate author-level discourse summaries aggregating an author’s public posts across discussions, which any Bluesky author may opt out of as described in our Privacy Policy. Such difference reflects the distinct terms, developer obligations, and consent mechanisms applicable to each platform. Linked accounts start as private. A member’s linked profile and results are shown publicly only if the member actively chooses to make them public, and they can change that at any time. Any profiling or ranking of X users is also subject to X’s requirements.
- Our automated bots act only when explicitly summoned (via @mention or equivalent), identify themselves as automated, evaluate argument quality neutrally within that single discussion, and never endorse positions or characterize users beyond the thread at hand. Our bot replies only when someone tags it directly. It doesn’t send unsolicited replies, run automated reply or promotional campaigns, or reach out to accounts that haven’t tagged it. Limits on our bot’s replies are described in our FAQ, and we may change those limits, or limit or discontinue bot replies, at any time without notice.
- Participants in an analyzed discussion may request removal of captured content; see our Privacy Policy and DMCA Policy.
2.4 Browser Extensions
The TrueMantis browser extensions for X and Bluesky capture a conversation only when you, a real person, explicitly activate them. Each capture is initiated by you, at your own discretion, and performed by reading the content already rendered in the Document Object Model (“DOM”) of the thread and/or page you are already viewing from your own browser session, one conversation at a time. On X, the extension does not make independent calls to the platform’s API for the capture itself. On Bluesky, the extension may make calls to Bluesky’s public API to retrieve additional content that is part of the same conversation but not fully rendered on the page (for example, link cards, quoted posts, or parent posts). The extension performs no automated, background, or bulk collection of any kind and does not crawl. Because the extension reads content directly from the page’s DOM (and, on Bluesky, may make the limited public-API calls described above), this method of access may be subject to the terms of service, acceptable use policies, or other rules of X, Bluesky, or other platforms, and it is your responsibility to determine whether your use complies with those terms. We make no representation that use of the extension is permitted under any platform’s terms. You are solely responsible for reviewing and complying with the terms of service and all other applicable policies of the platforms you use the extension on, and for confirming, before each use, that your access to and capture of content does not violate those terms or any applicable law.
3. Platform Neutrality and User Responsibility
You alone decide what content to submit for analysis. By using the Service you acknowledge that:
- You are solely responsible for determining what content to analyze
- You bear full responsibility for ensuring your use of the Service complies with applicable laws and the terms of the source platforms
- You assume all liability for any legal, ethical, or social consequences of analyzing particular content, including full responsibility for any content you submit or cause to be analyzed that infringes or misappropriates the intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights of any third party
- You will not hold TrueMantis liable for providing analysis of any lawful content you choose to submit
4. Prohibited Uses
You may not use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable law
- Analyze content you do not have the right to access or analyze
- Attempt to circumvent platform rate limits or security measures
- Use automated systems to submit content in violation of source platforms’ terms
- Engage in harassment, stalking, or targeted abuse using our analysis tools
- Submit malicious code or attempt to compromise our systems
- Resell, redistribute, or systematically collect raw platform content or TrueMantis analysis outputs obtained through the Service, or use the Service or its outputs to develop or improve a competing product or service, or reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, algorithms, or methodologies of the Service
5. Accounts, Subscriptions & Payments
5.1 Account Creation
Certain features require an account. You are responsible for providing accurate information, maintaining the security of your credentials, and all activity under your account.
5.2 Plans and Pricing
Paid subscriptions for the Service are charged on an annual basis. Every plan comes with a monthly allotment of units, the amount of which is listed on our pricing page. The pricing page also defines what each unit entitles you to and the number of units consumed by a given action, including retrieving a thread from X through our servers, Spot Checks, media analysis, and claim re-checks. Units that go unused in a given month expire and are not rolled forward. Once you exhaust your monthly allotment, any continued use is charged at our posted pay-as-you-go rate. We draw pay-as-you-go amounts from the payment method you have on file whenever they accumulate to a limit we designate, and we collect any remaining balance below that limit either at your annual renewal or upon cancellation. A notice appears on your Account page once pay-as-you-go usage starts, and these charges are itemized on your monthly usage statement. If a payment fails, paid features end immediately and your account moves to the Free plan while we retry the payment for a short period. If a retry succeeds, your plan is restored; if the payment still cannot be collected, your subscription will be cancelled. We reserve the right to revise the scope of a unit or the number of units an action requires, on reasonable advance notice.
Deep Capture is billed separately from your plan’s included units, by the pages and media analyzed, at the rates shown before you submit. Subscribers are billed with their pay-as-you-go charges. Others pay one charge to their payment method when the capture completes, subject to a minimum charge. We may make a limited number of free captures available: the number of free captures shown on our pricing page, which we may change from time to time. Free captures are offered at our discretion, are subject to availability, and we may change, limit, or discontinue them at any time without notice.
5.3 Billing, Auto-Renewal, and Cancellation
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on an annual basis and automatically renew unless you cancel before the renewal date. You may cancel at any time through your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the then-current billing period.
5.4 Refunds
All fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. Tips are voluntary and non-refundable.
5.5 Payment Processing
Payments are processed by our payment processor; its terms are shown at checkout.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 TrueMantis’s Rights
We retain all rights in our analysis algorithms, trained models, methodologies, taxonomies, software, databases, compiled data sets, trademarks (including “TrueMantis”), design, documentation, user interfaces, and the analysis results we generate.
6.2 Your Rights
You retain certain rights in content you submit. By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive license to analyze, display, reproduce, distribute, and create derivative works from it as part of the Service and any resulting analysis outputs.
We may use Service-generated prompt-output pairs and analysis artifacts, offline and on TrueMantis’s own infrastructure, solely to improve TrueMantis’s analysis pipeline, such as the wording of prompts, the way requests are directed, and the measures used to score results. We do not train or fine-tune foundation or frontier models on raw platform content. We do not release, transfer, or sell any model trained on platform content, except as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets.
6.3 Feedback
Any feedback, suggestions, ideas, or other information you provide regarding the Service (“Feedback”) is hereby assigned to TrueMantis LLC. You irrevocably assign to us all right, title, and interest in and to all Feedback, and we may use, reproduce, and commercialize it without restriction or compensation to you.
7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We make no representations regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any analysis, the appropriateness of analyzing particular content, the legal or social implications of analysis results, or the continued availability of any third-party platform or data source on which the Service depends. We are not responsible for any interruption, degradation, or loss of functionality resulting from changes to, or unavailability of, third-party platforms.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- TrueMantis LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Our total liability to you shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim or (b) one hundred dollars ($100)
- We are not liable for decisions made based on our analysis or for consequences of analyzing particular content
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TrueMantis LLC and its members, officers, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, content you submit or cause to be analyzed through the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party. This indemnification obligation does not apply to any claims, damages, losses, or expenses to the extent caused by TrueMantis LLC’s own negligence, willful misconduct, or violation of applicable law.
9. Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately and without notice if you violate these Terms, if we discontinue the Service, or if we reasonably believe your conduct threatens the security or integrity of the Service, or that your continued access poses a risk of legal liability to us. For other breaches, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to provide notice and an opportunity to cure of no more than ten (10) days before termination. We may also discontinue the Service at any time upon reasonable notice. Any notice under this Section will be sent to the email address associated with your account or provided by a prominent notice on the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
Upon account deletion, we remove your personal account information, except limited records we keep to meet legal obligations or prevent fraud and abuse, and release any ownership or control you hold over content you submitted through the Service. Deleting your account does not delete content captured from public discussions or analyses we have already generated; publicly available discourse and completed analyses remain part of the Service. A participant in an analyzed discussion may request removal of captured content, and underlying source content may be deleted at the platform, in each case as described in our Privacy Policy and DMCA Policy. We may use de-identified analysis artifacts to train models we operate ourselves. We do not train or fine-tune foundation or frontier models on raw platform content. We do not release, transfer, or sell any model trained on platform content, except as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets. When content is deleted or taken down, we first remove the identity of the user and the content itself, and retain only non-identifying labels, scores, and analysis data.
11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
11.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to conflict of law principles.
11.2 Dispute Resolution
Any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Service shall first be subject to good-faith negotiation for thirty (30) days. If unresolved, the dispute shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, with the arbitration seated in Madison, Wisconsin. Each party shall bear its own arbitration costs, unless otherwise required by AAA rules. Class actions and class arbitrations are not permitted.
12. General
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and TrueMantis LLC regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. We may assign these Terms, and any rights or obligations under them, to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, without your consent. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may update these Terms by posting a revised version; material changes will be communicated via the email address associated with your account or by a prominent notice on the Service at least fifteen (15) days before they take effect.
Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
