Privacy Policy

How TrueMantis collects, uses, and protects data when analyzing public online discussions.

Last updated: October 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how TrueMantis LLC (“TrueMantis,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website, browser extensions, automated bots, and related services (the “Service”).

Who We Are

TrueMantis is an independent discussion-analysis service operated by TrueMantis LLC, a Wisconsin limited liability company. We analyze the quality of publicly available online discussions and publish those analyses. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by X Corp., Bluesky, or any other platform whose public content may be analyzed through our Service.

What We Collect

Publicly available discussion content

When a discussion thread is submitted for analysis (via the website, browser extension, or bot), we capture the publicly visible content of that thread at the time of analysis: post and comment text, public usernames/handles as they appear in the thread, timestamps, media references, and thread structure. We do not access content that isn’t publicly visible, such as private messages, protected accounts, or deleted posts.

Platforms we analyze

We analyze publicly available discussions on the platforms we support, currently X (x.com) and Bluesky (bsky.app). Capture methods vary by platform and may include a platform API, a public feed, and/or our browser extension reading the thread you are viewing.

The platforms we analyze operate independently of TrueMantis and maintain their own privacy policies governing how they collect, use, and disclose information, including the public content that appears in the threads we analyze. Our analysis of publicly available content is governed by this Policy, but the platforms’ own practices are governed by their respective policies. If you post on these platforms, we encourage you to review their privacy policies directly. TrueMantis is not responsible for the privacy practices of X, Bluesky, or any other third-party platform, and the availability of public content through those platforms is subject to their terms and settings, not ours.

Analysis results

Our AI produces sentence-level discourse classifications, quality scores, rhetoric measurements, and fact-check assessments. These outputs are generated automatically and may contain errors, and should not be treated as definitive statements of fact. These are stored alongside the captured thread.

Browser Extension data

  • We collect only the public thread content you explicitly choose to analyze, plus basic capture metadata.
  • Capturing with the extension requires a signed-in TrueMantis account. Your sign-in is stored on your own device so the extension can attribute captures to your account; signing out or uninstalling the extension removes it.

What the extension does not do: It does not read your browsing history, does not run capture in the background, and does not collect data from pages other than the thread you explicitly choose to analyze.

Basic usage data

Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) and aggregate view counts. We use this to operate, secure, and rate-limit the Service.

When you arrive through a link in one of our bot’s replies, we note which reply it was, and keep that note with your account if you sign up, so we can count which replies bring people to TrueMantis. We use it only in totals, never for advertising. We keep non-identifying records of how people find and use TrueMantis, including with our payment processor, and use them only in totals.

We do not track, interpret, or display the specific location of any user. When you capture a thread, or open a link in one of our bot’s replies, we count only its general area (estimated from your connection) in public totals of where discussion comes from. This location count does not include your IP address or exact coordinates, and it is not linked to you or your account.

When you sign in or create an account, a security check from a bot-protection service runs on the sign-in form to tell people apart from automated bots. To do this, that provider receives technical information from your browser and connection, such as your IP address and browser details. It does not read what you type into the form. Most people see nothing. Sometimes you may be asked to tick a box. The provider handles that information under its own privacy terms (named under Cookies below), including as its own controller for improving the security check. TrueMantis does not use that information for advertising or analytics.

Information you give us directly

If you create an account, submit a contact form, or sign up for notifications, we store the information you provide (such as email address) and use it only for the stated purpose. You may request removal at any time.

What we do NOT collect

We do not require an account to view public analyses. We never collect platform login credentials or passwords for third-party services.

We also do not collect biometric information, precise geolocation, government-issued identifiers, financial account numbers, or special categories of sensitive personal information from you. Aside from the limited information described in this Policy (such as any account or contact details you choose to provide), we do not collect other personal identifiers.

How We Treat People in Analyzed Discussions

Our primary unit of analysis is the discussion, not the person.

  • On X, we do not infer sensitive characteristics about users and we do not use X data for surveillance or cross-thread author profiling.
  • On Bluesky, from public posts we may build limited author-level discourse summaries solely for the purpose of providing discussion-quality context. These summaries do not produce legal or similarly significant effects on the individuals profiled and are not used for automated decision-making about individuals. This is opt-out: use our data & removal request form or contact privacy@truemantis.com to suppress or delete any such profile.
  • Linked accounts start as private. A member’s linked profile and results are shown publicly only if the member actively chooses to make them public, and they can change that at any time. Any profiling or ranking of X users is also subject to X’s requirements.
  • Across all platforms we never sell or share captured platform data with third parties for their own marketing, and any per-user feature respects opt-out and deletion requests.

How We Use Information

  • To produce and display discussion-quality analyses in relation to a legitimate interest in providing an independent discussion-analysis service
  • To maintain a public archive of completed analyses
  • To operate, secure, debug, and rate-limit the Service, and to prevent fraud and abuse
  • To improve our analysis systems: we may use Service-generated prompt-output pairs and analysis artifacts, offline and on TrueMantis’s own infrastructure, solely to improve TrueMantis’s analysis pipeline, such as the wording of prompts, the way requests are directed, and the measures used to score results. We do not train or fine-tune foundation or frontier models on raw platform content. We do not release, transfer, or sell any model trained on platform content, except as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets.
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions
  • To communicate with you about your account or the Service
  • To otherwise operate, support, and deliver the Service to users, and to work with the service providers, vendors, and other third parties we rely on to run our business and provide the Service, in each case consistent with this Policy
  • On X, we do not build cross-thread profiles of platform users, rank users across discussions, or maintain per-user reputation scores, or generate any author-level profile or discourse summary of a user, except where that user has given separate, express, and informed consent to such profiling; connecting or authenticating an X account does not, by itself, constitute that consent. The technical access that X grants through its API and sign-in scopes lets us read public content; it does not, by itself, permit us to compile profiles of individuals, and we do not treat that access as authorization to do so. Any author-level profile or discourse summary is subject to each platform’s consent requirements, and we honor platform-level opt-outs; we never treat the fact that someone has connected an X account as that consent. On Bluesky, we may generate author-level discourse summaries aggregating an author’s public posts across discussions, which any Bluesky author may opt out of as described herein. Such difference reflects the distinct terms, developer obligations, and consent mechanisms applicable to each platform. Linked accounts start as private. A member’s linked profile and results are shown publicly only if the member actively chooses to make them public, and they can change that at any time. Any profiling or ranking of X users is also subject to X’s requirements.

Browser Extension: Limited Use Statement

Data collected by the TrueMantis browser extensions is used only to provide and improve the TrueMantis analysis service described in this Policy. We do not sell it. We do not use it to serve advertising or to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes. We do not transfer it except as needed to provide the Service to our service providers or as required by law. This use is consistent with the user-data policies of the browser extension stores through which we distribute our extensions, including the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements.

Service Providers

We use service providers to operate the Service. They receive only what is needed for their role. Categories include:

  • Hosting and infrastructure
  • Database and authentication
  • AI inference
  • Payment processing
  • Transactional email
  • Error monitoring
  • Optional push notifications
  • Bot protection on our sign-in form
  • Website analytics and click heatmaps, only with your consent; see Cookies below

We require these providers to protect data appropriately. We do not sell personal information. In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, personal information may be transferred to the successor entity as part of the transaction, subject to this Policy. We may, however, disclose information when required by law, legal process, or governmental request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others. A current list of specific providers is available on request at privacy@truemantis.com.

Data Retention and Deletion

  • Captured platform content is retained as needed to display its analysis and to comply with platform deletion obligations (we honor source deletions and valid removal requests).
  • When tagged in a thread, our bot posts a public reply from our account. Limits on our bot’s replies are described in our FAQ, and we may change those limits, or limit or discontinue bot replies, at any time without notice.
  • Account data is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after account deletion to allow for reactivation or to comply with legal obligations, after which it is deleted.
  • You may request deletion of your account data or removal of a specific analysis using our data & removal request form or by emailing privacy@truemantis.com. We respond to verified requests within the timelines required by applicable law (including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA where applicable).
  • Upon account deletion, we remove your personal account information and release any ownership or control you hold over content you submitted through the Service. Deleting your account does not delete content captured from public discussions or analyses we have already generated; publicly available discourse and completed analyses remain part of the Service. A participant in an analyzed discussion may request removal of captured content, and underlying source content may be deleted at the platform, in each case as described in this Policy and our DMCA Policy. We may use de-identified analysis artifacts to train models we operate ourselves. We do not train or fine-tune foundation or frontier models on raw platform content. We do not release, transfer, or sell any model trained on platform content, except as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets. When content is deleted or taken down, we first remove the identity of the user and the content itself, and retain only non-identifying labels, scores, and analysis data.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Essential cookies (always on)

These are required for the Service to work and do not need your consent:

  • Sign-in and session: keeps you signed in to your account (set by our authentication provider).
  • Security: short-lived tokens that protect the “connect your X account” sign-in flow.
  • Your cookie choice: tm_consent records the choice you make in the cookie banner so we do not ask again (kept for one year).
  • Sign-in security check: Cloudflare Turnstile runs on the sign-in form only, to protect the sign-in you are actively using against automated sign-ups and abuse. We treat it as strictly necessary for the security of that requested action and do not use it for advertising or analytics. To the extent it stores or reads anything on your device, that is limited to what is needed for this security function. Cloudflare receives technical information from your browser and connection (such as your IP address and browser details) as described under Basic usage data above; it does not read what you type into the form. For the portion of this processing that we carry out, we rely on our legitimate interest in securing the Service and preventing abuse, and for visitors in the EU and UK we rely on the strictly-necessary exemption under applicable ePrivacy and cookie rules for this security purpose only. Any separate processing Cloudflare carries out as its own controller, including to improve the security check, is governed by Cloudflare’s own terms and is not something we present as strictly necessary on our behalf. Because Cloudflare is US-based and operates globally, this may involve an international transfer as described under International Transfers below. Cloudflare describes how it handles this information, and how to exercise rights in relation to its own processing, in its Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

Your theme preference (light or dark) is stored in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie.

Analytics cookies (only with your consent)

If you choose Accept analytics in the cookie banner, we use two analytics services to understand how the site is used and where it falls short:

  • Google Analytics 4 (page analytics) sets _ga and _ga_*.
  • Microsoft Clarity (click heatmaps and session replays; configured to limit the capture of what you type) sets _clck and _clsk.

Until you choose, and if you choose Essential only, these services set no cookies and analytics storage stays off. We do not use advertising cookies.

Changing your choice

You can change your choice at any time using (also in the footer of every page). Choosing Essential only after having accepted stops the analytics services and removes the analytics cookies listed above from your browser. Your choice is kept for one year, and we will ask again if what the choice covers changes. If we enable advertising in the future, we will update this Policy and provide any required consent and opt-out mechanisms (including a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link under California law).

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know the categories of personal information we collect and the purposes for that collection, to request deletion, and to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information; we do not sell or share personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any of these rights, use our data & removal request form or email privacy@truemantis.com. We will respond to verified requests within the time required by law.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 18, consistent with the eligibility requirements in our Terms of Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without appropriate authorization, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@truemantis.com.

International Transfers

We are based in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. We use appropriate safeguards where required.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, additional notice.
